This Homemade Chex Mix is crunchy, buttery and full of flavor this easy party mix is the perfect snack for holiday entertaining!
Homemade Chex Mix
Happy November you guys, it’s officially holiday season! There’s nothing I love more about this season than the constant buzz of spending time with friends and family. Of course, with that constant buzz of people comes the need to serve quick and tasty appetizers and snacks, sometimes at a moments notice.
This easy Chex mix is the perfect recipe to have on hand for just that reason! You can make large batches in one go and even freeze some for a future event. Plus, it tastes amazing and will please both the kids and the adults!
Now it might seem informal to serve a snack mix on Thanksgiving or Christmas. But let me tell you that this is not your everyday, grocery store bag of Chex Mix. What we have instead is a beautifully golden, buttery, savory, salty mix of crunchy goodness that will have your guests reaching for more until the very last bite.
Let’s start with the base. This Chex Mix recipe includes rice, corn, and wheat Chex along with mixed nuts, pretzels, and bagel chips. The ratios of these ingredients are even in the recipe, but feel free to improvise here! If you only want cashews in your mix, then only add cashews. If you hate wheat Chex, leave them out. If you are always eating the bagel chips first, then add more in!
The important ratio in this Chex Mix is really dry to liquid ingredients, so just make sure to keep the total number of cups of dry snacks the same as the recipe and you’re golden! Otherwise, mix and match as you please.
Next, let’s talk about our spice and oil blend. For the absolute best flavor, you have to go with melted butter. When you toast the dry snacks in melted butter, it adds a rich and addicting depth of flavor that other oils won’t get you.
Mix in your favorite Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and any other choice spices or hot sauce you love and you’ve got yourself a flavorful blend to infuse your dry snacks with.

I love, love, love homemade Chex mix! Seriously! I could eat it all the time, that’s why I don’t usually make it at home, but I’m going to have to now that I saw how easy your recipe is!

A classic! We always make Chex Mix during the holidays, too, it’s one of our favorite traditions! We always use a pretty traditional combination, and be sure to add plenty of rye bagel chips – the best!
