Best Sliders Recipe: Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast
Bring your morning lots of savory flavor with a hint of sweetness by serving up these Breakfast Sliders! Dinner rolls are stuffed with the best breakfast foods and then brushed with a salty, sweet topping that’s made of butter and maple syrup!
When lunch or dinner rolls around, one of my go-to easy meals are sliders such as Pizza Sliders and Easy Taco Sliders! They’re always filling and satisfying to everyone… yet take minimal prep work on my end!
Since those sliders are always a hit, I thought, why not whip up a breakfast version?! Then I can skip out on making individual breakfast sandwiches while still feeding my family their favorite breakfast foods!
These sliders are even great for making the night before and then popping in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes in the morning! Then you’re left with mouthwatering mini breakfast sandwiches without messing up your morning routine or kitchen!
Breakfast Sliders Hawaiian Rolls Ingredients
For this Breakfast Sliders Recipe, you’ll first need a dozen dinner rolls. I used a package of Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls but feel free to use what you’d like!
Next up is the filling! First, I layer on shredded cheddar cheese (cheese slices could also be used) and then top it with pork sausage. Afterward, I add on the scrambled eggs that were made with eggs, whole milk, chives, and pepper.
Then I sprinkle on crumbled bacon that I easily baked right in the oven! The sliders then get one last sprinkle of shredded cheese before being covered with the top layer of rolls.
Once the sliders are completely assembled, they get brushed with a savory, sweet topping! This is made with just melted salted butter and maple syrup.
Variations On The Best Sliders Recipe (Hawaiian Rolls)
Instead Of Ground Pork Sausage, Can I Use Sausage Patties?
I like the ground pork sausage because I can cook it in a block, leaving no spaces in the sliders. But yes, the patties would work just fine as well! Just cook the patties and then place them evenly in a layer over the cheese.
Another sausage option would be scramble frying it up on the stovetop and then sprinkling it over the cheese.
Can I Leave The Bacon Or Sausage Out Of This Recipe For Less Meat?
Of course! Make these sliders exactly how you want.
How To Make Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast Sliders
- Bake the sausage on a baking pan in a large rectangle.
- Arrange strips of bacon on a separate baking sheet that’s lined with parchment paper. Bake until crispy.
- Whisk the eggs, milk, chives, and pepper together. Then cook the egg mixture in a skillet that’s coated with melted butter.
- Place the bottom layer of rolls into a glass dish. Try to keep the bottom rolls in one attached block.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese over the bottom half of the rolls. Then carefully place the block of sausage onto the shredded cheese layer.
- Spread the scrambled eggs over the sausage and top with crumbles of the cooked bacon.
- Sprinkle with more shredded cheese, and then place the block of bun tops on top.
- Melt butter and stir in the maple syrup. Next, brush this buttery syrup mixture over the slider buns.
- Bake the sliders until the tops are golden. Then slice, serve, and enjoy!
Tips for making Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast Sliders
- Feel free to get creative with the filling for these, you could add chopped spinach and feta to your eggs or do scrambled egg whites. Try a different cheese like pepper jack and add some sauteed peppers to the mix for a more southwest style slider. The possibilities are endless.
- Make them ahead by cooking and assembling and then covering and storing in the fridge until ready to bake and serve. Make sure to use a metal pan if doing this.
How to serve Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast
Our family enjoys these all on their own, but they go well with home fries too!
Storing Breakfast Sliders Hawaiian Rolls
Wrap leftovers up with plastic wrap or place them in an airtight container. Then store them in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You could also store them in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Can Hawaiian Roll Breakfast Sliders be frozen?
Yes, they can, but it’s important to notes that it could be a bit of a messy process because the scrambled egg and bacon can easily fall out of the slider with a lot of moving around. I would try to freeze the sliders in large sections instead of individual sandwiches for best results.
Reheating Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast Sliders
I find these reheat well in the microwave. If reheating from the refrigerator, they’ll only take about 30 seconds to reheat. From frozen, they’ll take about a minute.
Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast Sliders FAQs
Of course! To start, rub a tablespoon of butter all over the bottom and sides of a 9×9-inch baking dish. Then whisk the eggs, milk, chives, and pepper together and pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
The eggs can then go into the oven at 350 degrees F along with the sausage. However, the eggs need just up to 10 minutes to bake until they’re set.
Between the butter, sausage, and bacon, I find that there’s enough salt in the sliders. If you’d like, you could always have salt available while serving so people could add more if they’d like.
These Breakfast Sliders are just as tasty without maple syrup, so no worries! However, if you’re still wanting a little something sweet, you can use pancake syrup or even honey instead.

Hawaiian Rolls Breakfast Sliders
Equipment
- 9×13-inch baking pan
- Parchment paper
- Whisk
- Skillet
Ingredients
- 20 ounces pork sausage
- 8 slices bacon
- 8 large eggs
- ¼ cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon green onions or chives
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
- 5 tablespoons salted butter divided
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Spread the pork sausage onto a 9×13-inch baking pan and form it into a rectangle a little larger than the size of your dinner rolls rectangle. It will shrink down while cooking. Bake this for 25 minutes or until cooked through.
- While this is cooking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay the strips of bacon on the sheet. Bake this for 10 minutes or until crispy.
- Whisk the eggs together with the milk, green onion, and pepper. Melt 1 Tablespoon of the butter in a skillet and pour in the egg mixture. Stir often with a rubber spatula until the eggs are scrambled and fluffy.
- Keep the dinner rolls attached in one block. Slice through the whole block to create and top and bottom layer. Place the bottom of the buns onto a 9×13-inch baking pan. Set the tops aside.
- Once the sausage, bacon, and eggs are cooked, you can assemble the sliders.
- Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded cheese evenly over the bottom buns.
- Transfer the large sausage patty (as one large piece if possible) onto the cheese layer.
- Add the scrambled eggs over the sausage. Crumble the bacon and sprinkle this over the eggs. Then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the bacon.
- Place the bun tops on the layer of cheese.
- Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter and stir in the 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Brush this mixture over the buns.
- Bake the sliders for 10 to 15 minutes or until the tops are golden.
