Kitchen Tips When Making These Christmas Oreo Balls!
- Parchment Paper – For quick and easy cleanup with a mess-free process, parchment paper will be your best friend! Use it to line the baking sheet before and after dipping! This way you can just roll up the parchment paper and toss it in the trash. Saving you time from scrubbing the melted chocolate off of the pan.
- Food Processor – To create the perfect crumbly mixture I use a food processor to crush the Oreos. This gives the dessert balls the perfect filling consistency.
- Softened Cream Cheese – Be sure to take your cream cheese out of the refrigerator before starting this recipe. That way it has time to soften, making it easier to thoroughly incorporate it with the crushed Oreos.
- Chill The Dough – I like to chill the dough before rolling it since it makes for less mess! Otherwise, the filling is often too soft and difficult to roll. I also chill them again after I roll them into balls, making the dipping process with melted chocolate a lot easier!
Fun And Tasty Truffle Topping Ideas!
- Sprinkles – Use your favorite Christmas or winter sprinkles to dress these Christmas Oreo Balls up!
- Chocolate Drizzle – Melt additional chocolate and then transfer it to a piping bag to drizzle over the dessert balls. You can use more milk chocolate however white, red, or green candy melts would add some festive fun!
- Crushed Oreos – Crush some additional Oreos to use the crumbs as a topping! Just be sure to add them before the chocolate coating on the balls hardens.
- Crushed Candy Canes – Add some candy canes to a Ziploc bag and use a rolling pin to roll over them. Creating a crushed topping that adds some tasty peppermint to these Christmas Oreo Balls!
- Fun Designs – Use red and green melted chocolate to create a flannel pattern design! Or use melted chocolate to create Christmas present Oreo balls by dressing them up to look like a gift!
What’s The Best Way To Store These Christmas Oreo Balls?
Since this dessert is made with cream cheese, they should only be kept at room temperature for a few hours. Therefore, they’ll need to be stored in the refrigerator.
Place the Christmas Oreo Balls in an airtight container and then pop them in the refrigerator. Enjoy them for up to two weeks!
Can These Be Made Ahead Of Time?
Yes, these can be made ahead of time! Making it so much easier to prep your holiday desserts without the rush!
These can be made ahead of time and then stored in the freezer for up to 3 months! To freeze, place the finished truffles on a baking sheet and place it in the freezer.
Afterward, remove the frozen truffles and place them in a Ziploc bag and squeeze the excess air out. Freezing them before placing them in the Ziploc bag prevents them from freezing together in one big ball!
How Can I Make These Oreo Truffles Dairy-Free?
The Oreos are already dairy free. Therefore, you’ll just need to grab a dairy-free cream cheese alternative and dairy-free chocolate.
What Can I Use To Drizzle The Melted Chocolate If I Don’t Have A Piping Bag?
Instead of a piping bag, you can simply use a Ziploc bag with a corner snipped off!

Christmas Oreo Balls
Ingredients
- 20 ounces Oreos any flavor, reserve 2-4 Oreos for toppings
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature, cubed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
- 8 ounces white chocolate melted
- 8 ounces semisweet or milk chocolate melted
Toppings
- sprinkles
- crushed candy canes
- crushed oreos
- red and green candy melts
Instructions
- Add the oreos to a food processor and pulse until they turn into crumbs.20 ounces Oreos
- Add in the cubed cream cheese and vanilla extract and process until fully incorporated.8 ounces cream cheese, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Place the Oreo mixture in the freezer for 15 minutes.
- Portion the chilled mixture using a small or medium cookie scoop, then use your hands to roll them into smooth balls. Place them on a wax or parchment paper lined baking sheet.
- Freeze the Oreo balls for an additional 15 to 30 minutes. The longer they are frozen, the easier it will be to dip in the chocolate – but you don't want to freeze them too long or condensation as they come back to room temperature could prevent the chocolate from sticking well.
- Melt both types of chocolate in separate bowls in the microwave at 30-second increments until fully melted. Prep all decorations.8 ounces white chocolate, 8 ounces semisweet or milk chocolate
- Use a fork to submerge each truffle into the melted chocolate of your choice. Let excess chocolate drip off before transferring to parchment paper. Add any sprinkles or extra Oreo crumbs right away, or let set if you want to drizzle more melted chocolate or candy melts on top.sprinkles, crushed candy canes, crushed oreos, red and green candy melts
- Let set for a few minutes in the fridge before enjoying, or packaging up into gift boxes.
