This Cinnamon Persimmon Banana Smoothie is a healthy and flavorful blend of sweet fruit and cinnamon and it’s only 2 WW PointsPlus! A perfect breakfast smoothie to kick off and new and better you!
For the longest time, Persimmons were just a fragrance to me. The Body Shop used to have this Persimmon Spice fragrance oil that smelled amazing and I loved burning it during the holidays in my early college years. I’ve since run out and they’ve stopped making it, so instead I’ve turned to the real thing.
I love working with flavors that are in season and since Persimmons are a late fall and winter fruit, they’re perfect for New Year – New You focused recipes! One persimmon has 6 g of Dietary Fiber and 70% of your daily required Vitamin A. It’s a great little fruit that it often overlooked and I hope to share more great recipes that use it here on the blog!
Many people don’t realize that persimmons are technically considered a berry, but unlike a berry there isn’t a hint of tartness in them, just pure sweetness. A persimmon is ripe when soft and the leafy stem pulls away from it easily. Since I had a few lying around the house that were nice and ripe and I wasn’t quite sure what to do with them, I decided to test out some smoothie recipes. A smoothie seemed like a good idea since I’ve had you up to your ears in cookies and cupcakes for the last month or two.
I decided to keep things sweet with a little hint of spice, it’s still winter after all! With an almond milk base and some honey for taste, persimmons and bananas blend with a punch of cinnamon for a light and creamy smoothie perfect for kicking of your health resolutions. I’m still doing Weight Watchers and have been doing really well on it – as long as we forget the week between my birthday and Christmas. I love this smoothie because it has a PointsPlus value of just 2! The fruit and spice are free, so it’s just a point for the milk and a point for the honey!
I’ll be sharing more on my Weight Watchers journey in the future, but in the meantime let’s cheer to a new and healthier us with this delicious smoothie!

What a great mix! I added protein powder and used a frozen banana and agave instead of honey. Wow! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

This is fantastic! I was just looking at persimmons at my local market yesterday; wanted to buy some but didn’t quite know what to do with them. I’ve been all about smoothies lately, so I’ll definitely pick a few up next time so I can make this!

Yes, I’m still getting used to them myself. I’ve heard their great in tarts as well… I’m sure you could make an awesome one!
