This Copycat Starbucks Pink Drink recipe seemed like a fitting recipe to share with you today! After all, it is PINK!
The Pink Drink was quite the social phenomenon a couple of summers ago and isn’t it crazy that people loved and requested it so much from the Starbucks Secret menu that they actually put it on the real menu?!
That just goes to show the power behind social media, eh?
This post is in no way sponsored, I just really LOVE this drink and I’m tired of spending $6 a pop on it so I set out to find a way to make it at home and figured I’d share the recipe with all of you too!
During my pregnancy, I got a bit addicted to this fruity blush-colored concoction. Passion Tea Lemonade with a squirt of peppermint syrup has always been my go-to iced beverage at Starbucks.
However, when I was pregnant I needed to avoid hibiscus and since I’m pumping I need to avoid peppermint, so the Pink Drink has continued to be a bit of an indulgence.
Oh and the Pink Drink is super popular amongst breastfeeding mamas because the coconut milk is super hydrating and many think it really helps boost their supply.

🥤 It’s Dairy-Free And Delicious!
The actual Pink Drink from Starbucks is made with their special concoction of green coffee and fruit juices. This is a copycat recipe that mimics the flavor made with easily accessible ingredients.
This recipe uses coconut milk, freeze-dried strawberries, and white grape juice which are actual ingredients in the Starbucks version.
But the acai juice and green coffee extract are harder to come by so we’re going to substitute for a delicious passion tango tea.
The closest you’ll get to what they use at Starbucks is the Starbucks VIA Very Berry Refreshers. You can also use Teavana Passion Tango tea which you can for Keurig or traditional tea bags.
I used to only be able to find freeze-dried fruit at Trader Joe’s but now you can buy it at Target and on Amazon and I’ve seen them in a lot of regular grocery stores recently!
This drink recipe tastes like the real thing but a little on the lighter side flavor-wise.
🍓 What’s In It?
- Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher or Passion Tango Tea
- Coconut Milk
- White Grape Juice
- Simple Syrup
- Freeze-dried Strawberries
- Ice
👩🍳 How To Make It:
This is a really easy drink to make but it will take a bit of extra time because the tea needs to steep (just 5 minutes) – OR you can use premade passion tea from a can (linked above).
If you plan on making a lot of pink drinks, I recommend making a large batch of tea and keeping it in the fridge to use as needed.
Once you’ve steeped your tea bags, you’ll combine the tea, coconut milk, grape juice, simple syrup, ice, and freeze-dried strawberries in a cocktail shaker and shake.
Pour into a large glass and enjoy right away!
📃 Recipe Notes:
- I like using the Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher, it’s not the same as the Strawberry Acai at Starbucks but it is a nice substitute. You can also use their Passion Tango tea which you can buy in tea bags for iced tea.
- You can skip the simple syrup if you’re trying to cut down on sugar.
- I like to slightly crush some of my freeze-dried strawberries to give more color and flavor to the drink.
- If you steep tea too long than the flavor can change and the tea could taste bitter instead of fruity, so make sure you remove the bags at the 5-minute mark.
- One thing to note about this is the calories. Generally, a grande (16 oz.) pink drink has 140 calories in it, but that’s because when you order it, you’re getting half ice.
- This recipe actually makes 16 ounces of liquid drink and the ice is added on top of it.
- The nutritional information also doesn’t include consuming the freeze-dried strawberries.
- This recipe originally called for an acai tea and the product was no longer yielding delicious results so the recipe has been retested and updated.

Copycat Starbucks Pink Drink
Ingredients
- 1 cup Starbucks VIA Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher or Tazo Passion Tango Tea1
- ½ cup white grape juice
- ¼ cup sweetened coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon simple syrup2
- ½ cup freeze-dried strawberries3
- ice
Instructions
- Make the Refresher according to the package directions or steep the tea in the boiling water, make sure to remove the bags after 5 minutes4, and allow to cool.
- Once cooled, combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake. I like to slightly crush the strawberries when I add them to the shaker because the powder helps add more strawberry flavor.
- Pour the drink into a large glass and enjoy immediately.

thanks for the recommendation on the tea – i’ve been making this for years with whatever hibiscus tea i can find that shopping trip and it always turns brown. it still tasted good so i just put it in a dark cup to not see it, but i’m looking forward to trying this new brand!

Delicious! I used the via instant refresher, so I doubled the recipe using unsweetened coconut milk. I probably could have skipped or halved the simple syrup too, it’s very sweet. So I have a huge jar in fridge and keep adding to my glass with an extra splash of coconut milk to make it have pretty swirls. Thanks for this!

Bought the ingredients and made a drink, it’s disgusting! The ginger and lemongrass in the tea ruin the drink completely! 10/10 don’t recommend, find another recipe!

I’m assuming you mean ocean spray cranberry-strawberry, which I like to just add a splash of coconut milk to and that’s it. The coconut milk separates a little so its not pretty but it tastes great!

Haha me too! Like there’s not enough coconut milk or water. I must be doing something wrong too! So 3 tea bags with only 1 cup of water? 1/4 coconut milk and 3/4 grape juice?! That made mine pretty dark too. Please help us!!

Hi Nicole, you can ass more coconut milk if you’d like. Also, did you over-steep the tea? The tea should be a nice bright red.

Hi Marion, I use the acai berry tea. This is a copycat recipe as you can’t get the exact ingredients used by Starbucks, but when I make it is pretty close to the store version. You could add extra juice if you want it sweeter.
