Ingredient Notes
This Caramel Macchiato French Toast Recipe tastes like something you spent hours slaving over. So much so that you’ll truly be surprised at how incredibly delicious it is when it required only 20 minutes of prep time!
To make this you’ll slice a loaf of french bread into thick one-inch slices. Thick slices and hearty bread are key to ensuring the bread doesn’t get soggy after soaking all night in the egg mixture.
You could also use a thick loaf of brioche or challah bread. However, I don’t recommend just using a loaf of sliced bread from the grocery store.
Once the bread has been sliced and placed into the casserole dish it will soak overnight in the egg mixture. This is made by combining eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, light brown sugar, salt, and the star ingredient; COFFEE-MATE Caramel Macchiato Liquid Creamer, you can also use regular caramel if that’s all you can find.
Right before baking, the French Toast Casserole gets topped with chopped pecans and slices of salted butter. When it’s time to enjoy just serve the French toast with whipped cream and caramel sauce!
How To Make Caramel Macchiato French Toast
- Slice the bread into 1-inch slices and arrange them in a large, deep casserole dish.
- Beat eggs in a large bowl.
- Add the liquid creamer, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, and salt to the beaten eggs. Stir to combine.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cover tightly with plastic wrap.

- Remove the french toast from the refrigerator and top it with pecans and slices of butter, and place it in the oven.

Frequently Asked Questions
How To Store
If you have any leftover cooked Macchiato French Toast you can store it tightly covered in the refrigerator. I’d recommend eating up the leftovers within 2 to 3 days.
Can I Still Make This Recipe Without Preparing It Overnight?
Yes, you can! If you plan to make this without allowing it to soak overnight I’d suggest preparing it and then allowing it to soak in the refrigerator for at least 2 to 4 hours if possible.
Why Did My French Toast Turn Out Soggy?
If a different type of bread was used that wasn’t as thick and hearty it can result in soggy french toast. I find that day-old crusty French Bread that’s been cut into thick one-inch slices yields the best results!
Other things that may contribute to soggy french toast would be an incorrect oven temperature, shortened baking time, or too much egg-to-bread ratio.

I’m drinking my Poor Man’s Latte as I type this review! It’s so good! I’m a novice coffee drinker so, this is the perfect drink for me! Now, I did alter the recipe a bit. I added a table spoon of caramel syrup and 2 packs of equal to sweeten it up a bit. But, other than that, The Poor Man’s Latte is the perfect drink! I recommend everyone try it out!
